After Sunday’s meager pickings at Pescadero Marsh, I went by the Baylands after work, in need of some proper birding. As usual there was a good variety of the local fowl, but nothing exotic.
I did get to watch two pairs of harriers courting, which was fun. Lots of green-winged teal are there right now too.
In all I saw:
– American Avocet
– American Coot
– Anna’s Hummingbird
– Black Phoebe
– Black-crowned Night Heron
– Brown-headed Cowbird
– Bushtit
– Gadwall
– Golden-crowned Sparrow
– Green-winged Teal
– House Finch
– Killdeer
– Long-billed Curlew
– Mallard
– Northern Harrier
– Northern Shoveler
– Peeps sp.
– Red-winged Blackbird
– Ring-billed Gull
– Rock Pigeon
– Ruddy Duck
– Savannah Sparrow
– Scaup sp.
– Song Sparrow
– Willet
Quite a better list than Sunday’s, to be sure!
