Wordless Wednesday: Abbott’s Laggon (Point Reyes)
For the second time Sarah & I went to Pescadero Marsh, as we’ve both heard the birding can be good there, and for the second time, we saw nearly nothing! I wonder if we’re going at the wrong time of year, or what? Last time we were there mid-day, which is never ideal, but today we were there near sunset and still saw hardly anything!
We parked on Pescadero Rd. and walked down a fireroad to the marsh trail, seeing exactly zero birds along the way (unusual to see *none*!). A belted kingfisher was hanging out on a stump, but that was the only bird of note that we saw on a 45-minute walk. Our list, such as it is, is:
– Belted Kingfisher
– Black Phoebe
– Bufflehead
– Northern Harrier
– Red-tailed Hawk
– Yellowlegs sp.
and that’s it!
