In yesterday’s mail was something wonderful – my first decent-sized check for a photo sale! Although I do not currently actively try to sell my photographs (something I plan on working harder on this year), I have sold a couple (to flower seed catalogs), donated a half dozen or so to various educational institutions, and had one on the front page of the Sacramento Bee, this was my first that generated real money.
I was contacted via email out-of-the-blue by a contractor from the National Park Service who said she’s working on a new visitor pamphlet for Yosemite National Park, and was interested in using one of my wildflower images (below) in it. Her offer of $250, actually fairly low considering the print run is huge, was fine by me, and after some back and forth on cropping, the deal is done – now every visitor to Yosemite National Park will get a booklet with one of my photos on it – how cool is that?
