!A Sur de America!

2008-03-148 CommentsPhotography, Travel

Sarah & I head out for South America tomorrow morning for 3 weeks vacation (the longest vacation I’ve ever had since summer break went away). My blog will most likely be pretty quiet during this time, as I expect internet access to be sporadic at best until we get to Buenos Aires.

For those wondering, our rough itinerary is:

Mar 17-20: El Calafate, Argentina (Patagonia, glaciers, birds)
Mar 21-24: Parque Nacional Torres del Paine, Chile (Patagonia, trekking, birds)
Mar 25-27: TBD, end up in Punta Arenas, Chile (hopefully Magellanic Penguins, although we’re a little late in the season)
Mar 28-April 5: Buenos Aires, Argentina (urban fun, birds, relaxation, food, etc etc etc)

After much consideration, my photo kit for this trip is:

– Canon 30D w/~24Gb of CF cards
– Canon 17-85mm EF-S IS lens
– Canon 70-300 DO IS lens
– Panasonic FX01 point & shoot w/512Mb SD card
– Epson P-3000 40Gb portable photo storage device
– way too many chargers for the above, plus universal converter

This all fits nicely into my favored travel bag, the Adorama Slinger, which also has room for small bottles of water, wallet/passport, and a few other personal items.

Until I next have access, take care, be well, and enjoy life!

Peace,
_Adam_

    Adam,

Looks like a great trip you have planned! I haven’t seen a Magellanic penguin since I stopped working at Sea World of Ohio about 10 years ago. They are amazing birds, I hope you get to see them in the wild. Always interesting about reading about camera gear as well, best of luck!
