    Bernie: Yes, baby Great Horned Owls. Finding them was the purpose of our visit 🙂

    Montucky: Glad you liked – we’d hoped to get back there to photograph them as they grew up, but life intervened, as it so often does, and I’m sure they’ve fledged by now.

    Thanks, Sandpiper – some friends of ours knew about them and told us where they were, and a passerby who lives in the neighborhood pointed us to their exact whereabouts. There’s no way we would have spotted them without prior knowledge and help!

    It’s a great urban park indeed – generally rather good birding and you can actually get a little bit of a hike in there, something not too common in SF’s parks (other than Golden Gate Park, of course!).
