Bernie: Yes, baby Great Horned Owls. Finding them was the purpose of our visit 🙂
Monarch: Thanks!
Montucky: Glad you liked – we’d hoped to get back there to photograph them as they grew up, but life intervened, as it so often does, and I’m sure they’ve fledged by now.
Thanks, Sandpiper – some friends of ours knew about them and told us where they were, and a passerby who lives in the neighborhood pointed us to their exact whereabouts. There’s no way we would have spotted them without prior knowledge and help!
It’s a great urban park indeed – generally rather good birding and you can actually get a little bit of a hike in there, something not too common in SF’s parks (other than Golden Gate Park, of course!).
Great shots, are those baby owls in the bottom image ?
Your photos are always stunning! Happy Wordless Wednesday!
Nice shots! I love the little owls!

Those little owls are really something! At first I kept staring at the pic wondering what on earth they were. lol
Very nice photos. 🙂
Thanks, Jayleen!
Cool – these owls are great! And the rest is great as usual!
Seems to be a place to go!
Cheers, Klaus
